A fight about Easter escalated into a strangulation incident in Grand Island on Saturday afternoon.

Grand Island police were called to 216 N. Harrison at 4:30 Saturday afternoon after a fight between a boyfriend and girlfriend apparently got out of control.

"The boyfriend and girlfriend were arguing over Easter," said Grand Island police Sgt. Dean Elliott. "We're not sure what about."

"He choked her and ended up swinging a knife at her he missed and pushed a TV and shelf over and when it fell it hit her on the knees as it fell," Elliott said.

The knife was described as a black and silver fold-out model.

Jon Bruhn, 38, of 216 N. Harrison, was arrested for strangulation, attempted second-degree assault and third-degree assault domestic, the officer said. Bruhn was booked into the Hall County jail. He remained there Sunday afternoon.

Sharon Jones McWorter, 49, of 216 N. Harrison, reported the incident and had red marks under her chin, Elliott said. She was not taken to the hospital.
