The American Red Cross is offering classes to train lifeguards and water safety instructors on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The following classes will be offered:
* Lifeguard training for those who are at least 15 years old. The fee for the class is $100, and the course includes the complete training needed for attendees to be hired as a lifeguard. Includes lifeguarding, first aid and CPR/AED for the professional rescuer.
* Lifeguard instructor training for those at least 17 years old. The fee for the class is $110, and the course allows attendees to train their own lifeguarding staff.
* Water safety instructor training to teach swimming lessons. Attendees must be at least 16 years old. The fee for the class is $100, and the course will allow attendees to offer American Red Cross swimming lessons.
Additionally, CPR/AED recertification for the professional rescuer will be May 7 at Grand Island's Red Cross location and April 19 at the Hastings Red Cross. All lifeguards need this class to stay current with their licensing. The fee for recertification in CPR for the professional rescuer is $25.
All classes require pre-registration and pre-payment. Call the Red Cross at 382-3790 or 1-888-382-3790 to register or for more details.
