Instead of free pizza and some pocket change, three teens were treated to meals on the Hall County Jail.
An alert pizza deliveryman thwarted the three would-be robbers Thursday night and the young men were arrested by Grand Island police.
Christopher L. Boydstun, 19, of 114 E. Bismark; Michael G. Mostek, 18, of Wood River; and Cody J. Mahnke, 19, of Wood River, were each charged Friday in Hall County Court with felony attempted robbery for the incident.
The trio called Domino's Pizza Thursday night and placed an order, said Sgt. Jim Duering.
The Domino's employees and a manager, Shannon Ahlman, were suspicious of the order because the phone number and the address given by the caller didn't match any records at the store, Duering said.
Because of the employees' suspicions, Ahlman chose to make the delivery himself. When he arrived at that given location, the teens made a move to steal the money bag, Duering said.
Ahlman was "quick on his feet" and used his cell phone's speed dial to call 911. The teens ran off without harming Ahlman or getting any money. They were later arrested, Duering said.
Police believe the address the trio gave to Domino's was fictitious. The officers also believe the teens called in the pizza order with the plan to steal the money bag when the food was delivered, he said.
According to the police media sheet, the incident was reported at 11:48 p.m. Thursday.
Bonds for the three teens were set at 10 percent of $35,000 each and they were ordered not to have any contact with Domino's Pizza employees. Their preliminary hearings are scheduled for 10 a.m. May 30.
