Grand Island Family Church will be host to the third annual Fuel 2008 Youth Rally on Friday and Saturday.

At 6:30 p.m. Friday, Cisco Guerra, a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and coach, will be at the church telling his story about how he spent 10 years in gangs and was involved with drugs. He was able to get away from his bad decisions and now he coaches and trains young people to refocus their energy on MMA fighting and not violence or drugs.

From 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Chris Bartimioli, a Vans Cup world champion snowboarder, will share his story of cheating death on a recent skydiving accident, which took his life and then he was revived.

"We were looking for something to grab the kids' attention," said Mark Means, youth leader at Grand Island Family Church. "We want the kids to get excited about the rally and needed someone unique and with high energy someone who has made a bad decision and came out on the other end OK."

On Saturday evening, the music group Remedy Drive will be performing. Known for its piano-driven independent rock, the band is originally from Lincoln.

Games and giveaways will also be part of the two-day event.

Means said he expects anywhere from 200 to 350 kids from church youth groups from different towns and churches to attend the event.
