* Cory MacDonald, 2908 W. Anna St. Apt. 8, reported a theft there.

Hall County Sheriff

Law enforcement arrested nine people on warrants in 14 cases. No felonies were reported.

* Hector J. Lopez-Chavez, also known as Alejandro Palma, 31, Grand Island, pleaded no contest to attempted first-degree sexual assault on a child for a June 9, 2007, incident. A charge of sexual assault on a child for an incident that occurred between Jan. 1 and Dec. 1, 2004, was dismissed. His sentencing is scheduled for May 20.

* Jeremy R. Morales, 31, Grand Island pleaded no contest to attempted burglary for a May 6, 2007, incident. A charge of possession of burglar's tools was dismissed for the same incident. He also pleaded guilty to attempted burglary, reduced from burglary, and no contest to refusal to submit to a test for a Sept. 5, 2007, incident. Charges of operating a vehicle and obstructing a police officer were dismissed for the same incident. His sentencing is scheduled for May 20.

* Dennis R. Aponte, 32, 622 E. Sutherland No. 2, pleaded no contest to burglary for a Nov. 4, 2007, incident. Charges of attempted second-degree arson and criminal mischief were dismissed for the same incident. His sentencing is scheduled for May 20.

* Lori A. Dietz, 36, Phillips, pleaded no contest to second-offense writing insufficient/no funds checks for incidents that occurred between July 21 and Aug. 24, 2006. Her sentencing is scheduled for May 20.

* Alexander E. Gomez, 18, 4204 Indianhead Drive, pleaded no contest to first-degree assault for an Oct. 20, 2007, incident involving Jose Rivas-Crispin. A charge of using a knife to commit a felony was dismissed for the same incident. His sentencing is scheduled for May 20.

* Charlene Heredia-Garcia, 26, 417 W. Koenig St., pleaded no contest to writing insufficient/no funds checks for incidents that occurred between March 30 and May 21, 2007. A charge of writing insufficient/no funds checks was dismissed for a Feb. 28, 2007, incident. Her sentencing is scheduled for May 20.

* Brain R. Hainke, 46, 81 W. Koenig St., was sentenced to two years probation and 120 days of house arrest for third-degree domestic assault, violating a protection order and child abuse for an Aug. 2, 2007, incident.

* Marty J. Kerkman, 35, Platte Center, pleaded no contest to three counts of attempted first-degree assault and one count of using a vehicle to commit a felony for an Oct. 16, 2007, incident. Two additional charges of attempted first-degree assault, four additional charges of using a vehicle to commit a felony, one charge of failure to stop following a property damage accident and third-degree assault were dismissed for the same incident. His sentencing is scheduled for May 21.

* Joshua Heredia, 23, 2222 Bellwood Drive Apt. 74, pleaded not guilty to first-degree assault, strangulation, third-degree domestic assault and third-degree assault for a Feb. 3 incident involving Casey Smith, Jillian Scott and Willie Walker. His trial is scheduled for July.

* Jeremiah Heredia, 22, Newton, Kan., pleaded not guilty to aiding and abetting first-degree assault and third-degree assault for a Feb. 3 incident involving Casey Smith and Willie Walker. His trial is scheduled for July.

* Rusty H. Fulton, 21, 111 E. 13th St., pleaded not guilty to strangulation and three counts of third-degree assault for a Dec. 26, 2007, incident involving Stephanie R. Fulton, Michael Fulton and Patricia Fulton. His pretrial is scheduled for May 7.

* Albino L. Kau, 26, 3021 W. North Front St. No. 9, pleaded no contest to writing insufficient/no funds checks for incidents that occurred between July 9 and Aug. 29, 2007. A charge of writing insufficient/no funds checks was dismissed for a Sept. 18, 2007, incident. His sentencing is scheduled for May 20.

* Margaret A. Baker, also known as Margaret Godfrey, 38, 508 S. Adams St., pleaded not guilty to possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia for a Jan. 7 incident. Her trial is scheduled for July.

* Isidore S. Chavez Jr., 30, 408 W. Koenig St. Apt. 306, pleaded not guilty to driving during a 15-year license revocation and third-offense driving under the influence for a Nov. 12, 2007, incident. His trial is scheduled for July.

* Daniel E. Gay, 29, 2309 W. First St., pleaded not guilty to theft by unlawful taking for a Sept. 17, 2007, incident involving property of Bamford Inc. His trial is scheduled for July.

* Roy W. Vieyra, 50, 2107 W. Second St. No. 110, pleaded no contest to possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute for a Jan. 8 incident. Charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and possession of Hydrocodone were dismissed for the same incident. His sentencing is scheduled for May 20.

* Rowden D. Schneberger, 22, 1740 Garland St., pleaded not guilty to possession of methamphetamine for an Oct. 21, 2007, incident. His trial is scheduled for July.

nJoanna M. Oshlo, also known as Joanna Tagge, 32, 1116 W. Sixth St., pleaded not guilty to distribution of methamphetamine for a March 3, 2007, incident. Her pretrial is scheduled for May 5.

Hall County Court

* Wesley Velasquez, 30, 1206 Cedar Ridge Court Apt. 107, was charged with two counts of failure to appear for a May 30 incident.

* Melvin A. Mendoza, also known as Melvin Mendoza-Caceres, Melvin Alexander-Mendoza and Alex Mendoza, 24, 720 E. Ninth St. Apt. 4, was sentenced to 68 days in jail for third-degree domestic assault for a Feb. 14 incident.

* Henry R. Visente-Ortega, 19, Osceola, had a charge of sexual assault on a child dismissed for a Dec. 24, 2007, incident.

* Alfredo Garcia, 46, 415 S. Elm St. Apt. 3, had a charge of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute dismissed for a Feb. 27 incident.

Correction

Comments on EAS bid April 9

The Central Nebraska Regional Airport will accept public comments on Essential Air Service bids from 8 to 9 a.m. April 9 during the Hall County Airport Authority meeting.

The date of the meeting was incorrect in a story in the March 26 Independent and an editorial in Wednesday's paper.
