Preciousville, shipping in after two wins in Louisiana, has been established as the 2-1 morning-line favorite in Saturday's $15,000 added Pepsi Stakes at Fonner Park.
The six-furlong stake race for three-year-old fillies and mares has attracted a field of six with Preciousville the only horse yet to run at Fonner this year.
Owned by Craig Wulf and trained by Dan Coughlin, Preciousville broke her maiden by eight lengths in January at Delta Downs. The winner of over $13,000 in her career, the filly next won a $12,500 claiming race at the Fairgrounds, where she was claimed by Wulf and Coughlin.
Luis Ranilla draws the mount on Preciousville, who is co-highweighted at 118 pounds, as are the Bob Rising owned and trained Deputy's Whirl with Chris Fackler riding, and Roger Riggs' Rachele R's Queen, ridden by veteran Mike Ziegler.
Rachele R's Queen has yet to win this year, but faced some outstanding competition at Tampa Bay Downs in Florida.
The second choice on the morning-line at 7-2 is Sunday Dancer, trained by Kelli Martinez and ridden by husband Armando Martinez.
Sunday Dancer won a Maiden Special Weight race here at Fonner Park on March 9, coming from well off the pace for the win.
"She has the ability to close," Kelli Martinez said. "She's come along very nicely for us this year."
Fonner Park's leading trainer, David Anderson, sends out Mexican Time for the race with leading rider Yuri Yaranga in the irons.
Michael Bolinger's Miss Gold Bar with Damon Leeds on board rounds out the field.
Miss Gold Bar was a runaway winner here at Fonner Park on Feb. 29, breaking her maiden by an impressive 11 lengths.
Post-time for the Pepsi Stakes is 4:58 p.m.
