Chamber to host event tonight for G.I. Senior High top scholars

Students in the top 15 percent of the graduating class from Grand Island Senior High will be honored at an academic recognition banquet sponsored by the Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce at 6:30 p.m. Monday, at the Heartland Events Center.

For 29 years, the chamber has hosted a series of annual academic recognition banquets honoring the top-ranked graduating scholars from Grand Island's high schools.

The program emcee for the evening will be Don Dunn, board chairman of the Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce.

Students to be honored from Grand Island Senior High are Viridiana Almanza, Christina Bandasack, Christopher Beaty, Whitney Bennett, Becky Berven, Shayla Bigley, Michelle Bixenmann, Slade Bolles, Jason Brisbin, Jeremy Broxterman, Emalie Clement, Haili Copas-Starke, Ryan Cox, Tory Cullen, Sarah Dodendorf, Brittany Falkena, Bryce Fisher, Broc Forbes, Yvonne Freemole, Cody Friedrichsen, Thomas Furse, Megan Gangwish, Hannah Gappa, Vanessa Gauthier, Michael Hanover, Alyssa Hart, Suzanne Higgins, Nathan Holmes, Jessica Jasnoch, Sarah Jensen, Alyssa Johnson, Abby Kincanon, Ryan Krolikowski, Sarah Kuta, Alecia McMahon, Alexandra Miller, Erin Milton, Jose Moran, Trevor Morris, Lauren Moul, Teagen Nabity, Kelsie Olson, Crystal Oseka, Paige Owen, Crystal Prawl, James Reed, Ryan Rerucha, Seth Rhodes, Benjamin Robbins, Brigette Root, Dalton Ryba, Natalie Schaaf, Ethan Schmid, Megan Shafer, Lauren Shoemaker, Mollie Shuman, Alberto Solache, Bradley Spencer, Ethan VanWinkle, Kirby Wells, Benjamin White, Tyler White, Ashley Wiedel, Maggie Wilhelmy, Elizabeth Young and Sharon Zach.

The chamber and chamber business sponsors have hosted annual academic events each spring since 1980. The banquets and the endowment of chamber academic scholarships to four local students provide opportunities for the chamber and its business partners to demonstrate their support for the scholastic achievements of today's student leaders and tomorrow's business leaders.

Additional chamber of commerce academic recognition banquets are scheduled for Grand Island Central Catholic and Heartland Lutheran's top ranked graduates on Tuesday, April 8, and for Grand Island Northwest honorees on Monday, May 5.
