In a single motion, the Grand Island City Council approved the entire consent agenda during its meeting Tuesday night, thereby giving approval to boundary alterations for two business improvement districts.

The South Locust business improvement district that covers the area along South Locust Street south of Stolley Park Road to Highway 34 has been in existence for nine years. Its boundaries will be adjusted to include an area 200 feet on either side from the center of South Locust Street, in addition to areas around corners and on side streets that should be part of the district because of their landscaping.

Approved for appointment to the South Locust business improvement district board were Jack Rasmussen, Gene McCloud, Dave Bartz, Bill Lawrey, Jeff Reed, Rhonda Saafeld and Dan Naranjo.

The downtown business improvement district's boundaries will also be adjusted to include the Hall County Courthouse, YMCA and other non-profit, governmental and commercial properties.

Recommended downtown BID board members were Matt Armstrong, Bruce Eberle, Craig Hand, Mark Stelk, Barbara Clinch, Dee Johnson, Tom Ziller, Mark Tracy, Kurt Haecker and K.C. Hehnke.

Also automatically approved was a measure to appoint John Folsom, 1504 W. Second St., to a newly-forming business improvement district on West Second Street.
