Huskers hosting Bluejays in mid-week action

LINCOLN The Nebraska softball team returns home to Bowlin Stadium this week as the Cornhuskers host in-state rival Creighton at 6 p.m. Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The mid-week contest against the Bluejays marks the beginning of a long home stretch for NU, as the Huskers play 12 of their final 15 regular-season games at Bowlin Stadium.

Nebraska and Creighton will be meeting for the 108th time on Wednesday. The Huskers hold a decisive 73-34 advantage in the series, but the Bluejays have had the better of the series recently.

Creighton jumped out to a seven-run lead in the first meeting this season en route to a 7-2 victory over the Huskers. That win was the Bluejays' second straight over Nebraska, as Creighton has won three of the last four meetings and five of the last eight after losing 15 straight games to the Huskers from 2000 to 2004.

The Huskers, who remain winless in Big 12 play this season, hope to continue their recent success in non-conference play. Nebraska is 16-12 outside of the Big 12 this season and the Huskers have won 12 of their last 16 non-conference games.
