Crusaders top York in dual, 8-1

YORK Tinkering with the lineup resulted in good things for Grand Island Central Catholic on Tuesday.

The Crusaders topped York 8-1 with Kiran Hamik, Hannah Bolton, Jessica Wojcik, Ashley Chalupa and Jessica Bender all playing a part in two wins.

"All in all it was a great performance," GICC coach Matt Westfall said. "We changed our lineup and switched to what we feel better plays to our strengths.

"Kiran played No. 1 singles for the first time and was outstanding. Ashley Chalupa played very well in both singled and doubles. And even though she lost (at No. 2 singles), Nicole Jacobson is making great progess. We have big plans for her."

Central Catholic hosts Hastings St. Cecilia Thursday at 4:15 p.m. in a make-up dual that was postponed last week.
