China painters to present show in Grand Island
The Nebraska World Organization of China Painters will present a hand-painted porcelain show, "Tiptoe Through the Tulips," on Thursday through Saturday, April 17 through 19, at the Howard Johnson Riverside Inn.
The event will celebrate 36 years of china painting. Admission will be free.
There will be several tables of hand-painted china by Nebraska artists as well as demonstrations, classes and painting supplies for sale.
World President Paige Lukens Gray will be present.
The show will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. April 17, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 18 and from 9 a.m. to noon April 19.
Grand Island Christian sets carnival for April 18
Grand Island Christian School will have a carnival from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the school, which is located at Five Points.
Games will include jousting, sumo wrestling, cake walk, hair salon, petting zoo and more. There is no entry fee, and tickets will be on sale during the event for 50 cents.

District 41 legislative event planned
The Burwell Chamber of Commerce will host a "Meet the Candidates" Legislative Event Thursday for the District 41 Legislative Candidates.
A Meet and Greet will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. with a formal introduction of the candidates and a mini-forum from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Burwell Senior Citizens Center, 411 Grand Avenue.
Candidates for the legislative seat currently held by Vickie McDonald are Paul Eurek of Loup City, Jerry Peterson of Neligh, Gary A. Rasmussen of Elba, Kate Sullivan of Cedar Rapids, and Jerome Warner of Greeley.

City to host resource fair, luncheon for caregivers
"A Day of Caring for Those Who Care" is set for Thursday at the Hastings City Auditorium.
The event which will begin at 8 a.m. and continue through 4:30 p.m. will offer a resource fair, informational sessions and an appreciation luncheon for caregivers. There is no cost, but those interested in attending are asked to register by calling (402) 461-2324.
Lindy Bixler, a licensed independent medical family therapist from Lincoln, will be the guest speaker.
The day also will include two showings of the PBS documentary film, "Caring for Your Parents." The second showing will be at 7 p.m. at the Hastings City Auditorium, after the day's other activities have concluded.
The day for caregivers is sponsored by the Hastings Community Foundation, SCTH Caregiver Coalition, City of Hastings Parks and Recreation and AARP.
