CENTRAL CITY The Nebraska Christian Schools Dinner and Benefit Auction last month raised more than $100,000, the school has announced.
The dinner and auction are the major fundraiser for the school, and this year's March 29 event was a sellout with more than 300 in attendance.
It began with the silent auction preview on Friday night, March 28, where more than 450 donated items were offered for silent bidding.
Silent bidding continued for those with reservations for the dinner on Saturday evening. The dinner consisted of grilled rib eye steak and shrimp with hors d'oeuvres. The Knights of Rhythm orchestra provided music before the dinner.
The live auction was conducted by auctioneer Scott Wall of St. Joseph, Mo. A grandfather clock made by Deverle Cooper had the highest bidding price, and an off-road desert racing package offered by Steve Strobel sold for more than $2,000 three times.
Following the live auction, a special scholarship auction was conducted with the proceeds going to fund student scholarships to attend Nebraska Christian.
Funds raised prior to the auction and during the event combined with money raised for teachers' salaries during the rest of the event pushed the total proceeds to more than $100,000.
