ORD < Fourteen area businesses and 20 class participants were part of the 2008 Loup Valley EDGE (Enhancing, Developing and Growing Entrepreneurs) class that graduated on March 31 at the Valley County Fairgrounds.
The EDGE class is a comprehensive course designed to assist local business owners in increasing management skills that lead to new, expanding and profitable businesses. Participants of the 12-week course learn in a hands-on manner, developing a comprehensive business plan that covers business concerns such as operational issues, financials and marketing techniques.
The 12-week entrepreneurship course began on Jan. 17 and concluded on March 31.
Graduates of the class included Cherish Gregory (Western Creations and Tack), Mary Hughes (Trapper's Creek Outdoors), Lee Jeffres and Johanna Holt (Jeffres Sand and Gravel), Pam Holcomb (School Garden LLC), Dave and Elaine Hill (Loup Valley Tree Service), Tenise Jarecke (Sandstone Grill), Roy and Lisa Farrens (Elyria Canning Co./Elyria Gardens), Barbara Ronzzo (ChemDry Carpet Cleaning of the Sandhills), Steven and Sara Case (Marathon PC Services), Ann Clausen (Stitches), Alan and Jeanette Koelling (Sonpower Industries), Lynn Franzen (Burwell Economic Development), Dale Crandall (Crandall Law Office) and Vernyce and Clinton Olcott (Olcott Welding and Repair).
Businesses participating in the class represented the communities of Arcadia, Broken Bow, Burwell, Elyria and Ord.
