Nebraska records seven wins at Jacobs Invite
NORMAN, Okla. Battling stiff competition and winds up to 25 mph the Nebraska track and field team fought its way to seven event wins on the final day of the John Jacobs Invitational.
The Huskers were part of a strong field that included Big 12 Conference foes Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Kansas as well as TCU, Wyoming, Tulsa, Texas-Arlington, SMU, Oral Roberts, Manhattan and national power, Arkansas.
The Husker javelin throwers started out the day for the Big Red on right foot as freshman Austin Braman and senior Kayla Wilkinson each earned the top throws in their respective field. Braman had a winning throw of 206-1 (62.82), while Wilkinson's mark was 161-1 (49.09).

With its third-place showing, NU did not advance to the NCAA Championships as a team for the first time in nine years. The Huskers complete the year with a 13-9 season record.
"Our team came in here today and didn't miss a routine," Kendig said. "I'm proud of the job they did, but I'm sad for our individual qualifieris that they won't be able to compete with their team at nationals. That's tough. But this team fought all year long, and we have nothing to hang our head about. We worked hard today, and I'm proud of the way they fought and responded all year long."
Tickets for the NCAA Championships are sold out for the three-day competition at the University of Georgia's Stegeman Coliseum.

Ex-Husker in jail after alleged road-rage incident
OMAHA (AP) Former Nebraska football player Willie Miller remains in jail after being arrested this week in an alleged road rage incident.
A Douglas County judge set Miller's bail at $25,000 on Thursday. According to Douglas County Jail records Saturday, Miller had not come up with the $2,500 necessary for him to be released.
Miller played fullback for the Cornhuskers from 1997 to 2000. He's accused of throwing a punch at an off-duty police officer during a Tuesday incident in west Omaha.
Police said the off-duty officer saw Miller driving recklessly and honked his horn at Miller. Miller made a U-turn to follow the officer, striking the officer's SUV from behind. The crash pushed the officer's vehicle into a minivan.
Miller is charged with second-degree assault and criminal mischief.
