Sioux Falls sweeps GPAC twinbill from Broncos
HASTINGS The Hastings College Caseball team dropped a Great Plains Athletic Conference doubleheader against Sioux Falls (S.D.) Sunday afternoon at Duncan Field.
The Broncos (12-25, 5-9 GPAC) fell in game one 12-7 and lost game two 10-8.
In game one, Joe Jeanjaquet, Pat Morey and Josh Tomayer each had two hits for the Broncos. Jeanjaquet had a double and a triple.
Bryant McCann was the starting pitcher for Hastings.
Connor Gardiner led the offense in game two for Hastings as he went 3-for-4 from the plate with two RBIs and triple. Jeanjaquet continued with the hot bat as he went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, while Mick Krupski and Leigh Jochimsen each had two hits.
Alex Kucera was the starting pitcher for HC, while Chris Denny took the loss.
Hastings College announces schedule changes
The Hastings College Baseball team has announced more schedule changes for the upcoming week.
The Broncos' doubleheader with Dakota Wesleyan that was moved to Sioux City, Iowa, on Monday has again been moved. The two teams will now play at Duncan Field in Hastings on Monday with game time set for noon.
Hastings was scheduled to play York College on Tuesday Hastings in non-conference action. That single nine-inning game has been postponed and tentatively been rescheduled for April 22. No game time has been announced.

Nebraska-Kearney splits RMAC doubleheader
LAS VEGAS, N.M. Nebraska-Kearney split a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference doubleheader Sunday, beating Western New Mexico 3-1 in the opening game before dropping the nightcap 8-3.
Amanda Bell (7-9) tossed a complete-game six-hitter for the Lopers (15-21, 16-16 RMAC) with four strikeouts and no walks. Kelsey Smith had two hits and two RBIs to lead UNK at the plate, while Molly Langerak also had a hit and drove in a run.
Western New Mexico (22-25, 14-16) struck for five first-inning runs in game two, chasing Loper starter Ashley Guyle (2-5). Michelle Gaunt led UNK with two hits and Langerak had two RBIs.

Texas Tech routs Nebraska men 7-0 in Lubbock
LUBBOCK, Texas The Nebraska men's tennis team lost on Sunday to the No. 20 Texas Tech Red Raiders 7-0 in Lubbock, Texas. The loss is NU's fourth straight to open Big 12 play, and drops its record to 9-13 overall.
The 20th-ranked Texas Tech squad is the fourth straight top-25 opponent the Huskers have played, and although the team has competed well at times, it hasn't been able to put it together for a victory over any of those teams.
The Huskers finish up their regular season schedule next week with three matches. They play their final home match on Tuesday, April 15, against in-state foe Nebraska-Kearney before traveling to Baylor on April 18 and to Oklahoma on April 20. Tuesday's match against UNK is schedule for a 2 p.m. start, and will be played at the Nebraska Tennis Center.

Cornhusker women drop Big 12 dual to Buffaloes
LINCOLN The Nebraska women's tennis team fell to the Colorado Buffaloes 4-3 on Sunday at the Nebraska Tennis Center in a match that wasn't decided until nearly four hours after it began.
The Huskers missed their chance for a third straight conference win and dropped to 15-5 overall and 4-5 in Big 12 play, while Colorado wins its second straight and improved to 9-10 and 6-3 in the Big 12.
Nebraska finishes up its regular season next weekend with a match in Lawrence, Kan., to take on the Kansas Jayhawks on April 18 before returning to Lincoln for the final home match of the season against Kansas State on April 20.

Hastings' Moeller earns top finish in high jump
SEWARD The Hastings College track and field team brought home several top finishes in the Concordia Invitational Sunday.
Grand Island Northwest graduate Katie Moeller placed first in the women's high jump for the second week in a row with a jump of 5 feet, 6 inches. Also, Central City graduate Kay Broekemeier finnished first in the 800-meter run (2:22.71), while teammate Scottie Shaw won the 1,500 (4:46.02.).
Former Hastings St. Cedilia standout Scott Van Cura was the leader on the men's side for HC with two first-place finishes. He won the shot put (52-11) and the hammer throw (179-11 3/4).

Kenesaw's Ground named to Pinnacle Bank squad
Deidra Ground of Kenesaw has been selected to play for the Pinnacle Bank junior all-star girls basketball team. The squad was selected following statewide tryouts.
This year's senior team will participate in four tournaments. The junior team is scheduled to play in three tournaments.

SEWARD The Grand Island Northwest boys were bounced from the Central 10 Conference Tournament Saturday with a 4-3 shootout loss against Holdrege.
No other information was provided. Northwest dropped to 5-5 on the season.
