The final reading and vote for LB1116, the bill that would move the Nebraska State Fair to Grand Island by 2010, has been scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

According to a representative from the office of Sen. Mike Flood, speaker of the Legislature, the bill has been put on the schedule for Wednesday's session, which will begin at 1:30 p.m.

That has bumped back a tentative visit to Grand Island by Gov. Dave Heineman to sign the bill into law, said Don Dunn, chairman of the board at the Grand Island Area Chamber of Commerce.

Assuming the bill passes through the final round, Heineman's office has said the governor will make a trip to Fonner Park at about 11 a.m. Friday, Dunn said.

"That will get firmed up as soon as the vote's taken Wednesday," Dunn said.

This year's legislative session is scheduled to end on Thursday.

Wednesday's vote will conclude a seven-month involvement by Grand Island community members, including Dunn, to bring the State Fair to Fonner Park.
