An Iowa construction company has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court and paid a fine for dumping concrete slabs and steel rebar in the North Loup River.

Herbst Construction Inc., a corporation engaged in bridge construction, entered the plea to misdemeanor depositing refuse matter into a navigable water, which is a violation of the Refuse Act, according to a press release from U.S. Attorney Joe Stecher's office.
