Sanctuary cities deemed illegal, dangerous

"America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Abraham Lincoln, 1809-65.

The U.S. Constitution has no provision for illegal alien sanctuary, and there is no legal precedent for it in the history of the United States of America. When cities and entire states declare themselves to be "sanctuaries" for illegal aliens, they are violating 8US1324, 1324(a), 8US1325-27 and can be charged with a felony for each violation of federal law by concealing, harboring or sheltering illegal aliens.

Present-day sanctuary cities and states show contempt for U.S. immigration laws by adopting a "don't ask - don't tell" policy for illegal aliens. What is the motivation for these policies? The same as that for national politicians, a leftist-liberal mindset, corporate greed, profit to be had for low-cost labor, the promise of future votes (legal or illegal) and pervasive anti-American mentality fostered by academia and a well heeled, open society augmented by news media on the take.

Illegal protective measures for illegal aliens including additional resources will be needed for enforcement, municipal resolutions, city executive orders, law enforcement departmental orders, city commission recommendations, a governor's order, or merely unspoken but understood orders of "no cooperation with federal authorities."

Many politicians hide behind arguments that enforcement of immigration laws are a federal obligation or that reporting illegal aliens to federal authorities infringe on states rights. At the same time, sanctuary cities and states demand federal money to subsidize education, environmental damage repair, more water treatment plants, police and fire protection, social handouts and welfare benefits required by the growing ghost population of illegal aliens.

Among those residing in sanctuary cities are sleeper terrorists and others whose purpose is to destroy America. Across the nation, American citizens are dying at the hands of lawbreakers who have crossed the borders illegally and have no reason why they must obey the law.

Sanctuary activists embrace a cult of radical multiculturalism at the cost of America's identity. American citizens need to unite to forestall the balkanizing of the nation, which puts at risk our unifying language, culture, ethos and heritage.

Male caregivers not appreciated

I suggest The Independent conduct another go-round on that loaded, uninspiring question of the male housework survey.

The high percentages of meddling, unappreciated male houseworkers are not consistent with actual circumstances.

How about the sickness and in health mode? The couple's elderly gentleman's role in housekeeping, teetering on the brink of assisted living and trying to hang onto their last shred of independence.

Talk is cheap in the prime of life when you have to follow up on a few failed male houseworker's screw ups, but even at that, the good intentions never change.

Can do without fluoride, littering

First of all, I'd like to discuss the fluoride issue. Why do we need it in our water? There is fluoride in all the toothpastes, mouth washes and who knows what else it is in. Maybe some of the younger generation should watch the sugar they consume. I do not believe we all need to be exposed to this.

Secondly, littering. I live close to the fast food restaurants. Every day my neighbors and I are cleaning up their litter. Maybe we should enforce a stiffer fine for this action and take more pride in our country and city.

It really angers me when I see people throwing trash from their vehicles. We have the nicest country on this earth. Let's not turn it into a dump.
